Property Information
Description: Campton Place
Hotel in San Francisco has been a refuge for the sophisticated
traveler, providing the quiet, intimate atmosphere that
is often lost at many large hotels. Exquisite surroundings
and a superior level of service offer an Old World Charm
appreciated by our guests. Superbly designed interiors by
Sylvia Chang feature high quality furniture, cotton linens,
down filled duvets, and elegantly appointed limestone tiled
bathrooms. Guests of our small, luxury hotel often feel
as though they are staying at an elegant residential apartment
rather than a hotel that just happens to have one of the
city's finest restaurants. History: Formerly known as the
Drake-Wiltshire Hotel, the current Campton Place Hotel is
comprised of two buildings that date back to the early 1900s.
In 1916, the hotel was enlarged to 15 stories, remodeled
in Spanish Colonial Revival style, and named the Drake-Wiltshire
Hotel. The property underwent an $18 million renovation
in 1981 to create the luxurious Campton Place Hotel, paring
200 rooms to 126 rooms and suites. Purchased by Southbourne,
Inc. in 1992, the company completed a $5.4 million renovation
in 1995, further reducing the room count to 117 to accommodate
new meeting facilities. In 2001, after the completion of
a $15 million renovation, Campton Place Hotel will stylishly
usher in the millennium. Named one of The Best Romantic
Hotels by Bon Appetit, Campton Place Hotel continues to
enjoy a reputation as one of the world's finest upscale
hotels. # of Rooms: 126 Room Information: All rooms have
down filled duvet and pillows, air conditioning, color TV
with remote control, honorbar, Bose Wave radio with CD player,
and a safe. Bathrooms come fully equipped with hotel amenities
plus many extras to make guests feel right at home including
a blow dryer, lightweight knitted bathrobes, cotton balls,
swabs, a makeup mirror, scented candles, and more.
